Following in the footsteps of FPP’s very successful bi-annual Student Fairs in India, we’re excited to announce our second Virtual Fair dedicated to the Indian and Subcontinent student markets.
Often regarded as an easy-to-penetrate market, India forms the cornerstone of many educational institution’s international student intake. With almost 200,000 Indian students currently studying abroad - a number that seemingly has no limits - only China sends more international students overseas.
India has the 2nd largest population of higher education students, and is predicted to pass China within the next 10 years, with an estimated 119 million college-aged students by 2025. Already over 50% of the country’s population is under the age of 25, making India home to one of the world’s youngest populations.
FPP’s first Indian Subcontinent Virtual Fair, held in January 2018, had over 2,000 student registrations, of which over 500 passed our screening, and were accepted to attend. During this Virtual Fair 22,774 messages were exchanged between institutional representatives and students, with several universities receiving over 180 visitors/leads.
FPP’s reputation and track-record in reaching high-quality pre-screened Indian students is unmatched. FPP Student Fairs have been offered in India over the last four years, with each set of events growing both in terms of exhibitor numbers and pre-screened student attendance over the set before.
In addition to the cities in which FPP holds its Student Fairs, second and third tier cities and towns will be covered via a comprehensive online marketing campaign. Students from the growing markets of Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka will also be reached and invited to attend.
In line with our bi-annual Student Fairs in India, all students registering to attend are heavily screened for their financial capacity and intentions to study abroad. Only students matching our pre-defined criteria will be provided with log-in details to attend the Virtual Fair. This will typically equate to between 30% and 35% of registering students being accepted.
FPP’s student-facing Facebook page - www.facebook.com/EduFindMe - with almost 2 million followers will also be used to promote the event to Indian Subcontinent students, generating quality candidates.
The breakdown of graduate-seeking to undergraduate-seeking students is expected to be 70% : 30%. So, while most students will be looking for overseas graduate options, this will still ensure that undergrad-only programs will meet with more than enough students to make the Virtual Fair worthwhile and profitable.
Maximizing Your Virtual Fair Experience
To ensure you’re maximizing your time with your target markets, you have the option to block students from certain countries via the ‘Nationalities Block’ section in your ‘Booth Setup’ area. This enables you to refine the countries of students that can search for your institution and speak with you.
All exhibiting institutions will have the level of their programs clearly marked, so that you are not mistakenly contacted by students looking for a program differing to what you offer.
The Virtual Fair is being strategically held on a Sunday, so that students can log-in with their parents in-tow. Since the event is entirely virtual, conscientious recruiters can log-in from the comfort of their home.
As with the 2018 Indian Subcontinent Virtual Fair, several governments have confirmed their participation and support for Indian Subcontinent Virtual Fair. These governments are requested to inform their own student database of the event; promote on their respective social media channels, and encourage interested students to register.
Further, supporting governments will have a booth at the Virtual Fair, providing students with general information on the benefits of studying in their respective countries, while offering support to their member institutions.

Combining In-person and Online Recruitment
Whether you’re established in India and attending FPP’s in-person events, or looking to break into the world’s second largest market, this Virtual Fair is a very cost-effective and time-efficient way to recruit from India’s largest cities and smallest towns, and surrounding countries.
Strategically taking place mid-way between our India Student Fairs in 2018-2 and 2019-1, this Virtual Fair complements these in-person events perfectly.
Students that have attended our Student Fairs in India in 2018 will be invited to attend the Virtual Fair. This way, students you meet at FPP’s in-person events that have had the possibility to research your institution in the meantime, have the opportunity to re-connect with you later down the line.
In addition, students attending this Virtual Fair will be invited to attend the Student Fairs a few months later in 2019-1, thereby allowing for in-person follow-up and conversion.
As mentioned above, while the Student Fairs offer in-person recruitment across the main Indian student cities, the Indian Subcontinent Virtual Fair complements this, by providing access to qualified students from hundreds of cities and towns across the region.
