About UK

The UK student market has reached unprecedented levels in recent years, with year-on- year increases in students studying abroad. UNESCO reports that there are currently 34,025 UK students studying abroad - higher than at any other time. UK student participation in the Erasmus program has increased every year since 2007, and continues to rise despite the uncertainty of Brexit (from 7,525 in 2007 to 9,693 in 2017, an increase of over 25%).

Just last year Fulbright USA published statistics confirming that the UK is now the largest European source of international students at US universities, with a whopping 11,500 British Students being accepted on programs at US institutions in 2018. Australia, Canada and the Netherlands are also extremely popular consistently ranking within the top 5 overseas destinations for UK students.

Northern Ireland in particular is an excellent target market because, according to figures published by the department for the Economy (DfE), in 2017, 34.5% of students who went on to higher education, chose to study outside of Northern Ireland. That is over 4,800 students.

Since 2011, FPP’s UK student-facing brand - The Student World – has offered High School Tours, which have proved to be an excellent way to meet students and build relationships with careers advisers in the very best schools across the UK. During each tour, the group of universities typically visits between 10 to 12 high schools, mostly private and grammar schools, in targeted regions of the UK that we believe have the best profile for overseas study.
